FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the consultation free?

That depends of the type of case and the attorney that you chose to meet with. All consultations for personal injury cases are free. Damon Wooten offers free consultations for all matters including divorce, child custody and support, family law, DUI, general civil litigation and all criminal matters. Chris Ralls charges a consultation fee of $150 for most matters. If you are still uncertain please feel free to ask when you set your appointment if you will be charged a consultation fee.

How long does it take to get an appointment?

In most cases we can set you an appointment within 2-3 business days. If it is an emergency please feel free to ask about a same day appointment. Often we are in court and unable to meet with you on the same day, but if we can accommodate you we will.

What types of cases do you handle?

Each attorney has a different area of specialty. Our general practice areas are listed on our home page and specific practice areas for each attorney are listed on the Attorney Profiles page. If you are uncertain regarding the type of case you have or if we handle those types of cases, please do not hesitate to call. If we do not have an attorney that can handle the case for you, we will gladly refer you to an attorney with expertise in any area of the law that you require.

How much is a retainer?

Retainers vary from case to case. You will be quoted a retainer at your initial meeting. Unfortunately it is hard to be more specific as each case is unique and requires different amount of time.

How do I know if I need a lawyer?

This is not a question that is easy to answer on your own. Often times during a consultation, it becomes apparent that the client’s problem can be fixed with just a little advice. In that case we are happy to tell you how to fix the problem without hiring an attorney. We want your business over a long time and are not interested in having you pay your hard earned money to us for something that does not require an attorney. We would much rather give you some free advice and have you hire us in the future when you really need a lawyer.
